Culturally Responsive Restorative Practices: Preliminary Data from Participating Schools, 2019-2020
This report provides a brief overview of Culturally Responsive Restorative Practices, an innovative framework intended to address discipline disparities and improve school climate and culture at ten AISD schools. This work is part of a 5-year, $3.5 million Education Innovation and Research (EIR) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Question: Did mother's completion of the ePromotora program influence children's prekindergarten (pre-k) academic achievement, school attendance, and personal development?
This 2008-2009 school year program uses a train-the-trainer model in which Spanish-speaking mothers participate in a 6-week course about teaching early literacy skills and preparing their children for school. Sixty-nine of 107 mothers completed the program in 2008–2009. Students of mothers who completed the program showed academic gains.
Family Pulse Survey Results Summary: June 2020
The AISD Family Pulse survey was launched to all families on June 24th and closed on July 13th. Families were asked to respond to the survey once for each child they had enrolled in AISD in the 2019- 2020 school year, excluding exiting seniors. Families responded on behalf of just over 26,000 students (N= 26,255) out of a possible 75,592 students for about a 35% response rate for the survey. Families were asked questions about their plans and preferences for sending each of their children physically back to school in 2020-2021.
Families as Partners Parent Champion Initiative
Motivated by the dual-capacity framework for family-school partnerships, one initiative of the Families as Partners program is to enhance the capabilities, connections, cognition, and confidence of parents. This report focuses on the capacity building of the 2018–2019 parent champion initiative.

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Evaluation 2009-2011
AISD used $16 million to support 25 ARRA IDEA projects to reduce the student academic achievement gap, reduce disproportionality, reduce dropout, improve district processes, improve teacher quality, and evaluate programs.
