High School Redesign Student Advisory Evaluation, Year 2 Implementation, 2008-2009
Student advisory classes were collaboratively implemented by the district’s Office of School Redesign, teacher leaders, and contracted support providers in all high schools during the 2008–2009 school year. This report provides a summary of results.

These reports summarize results from the 2009 Austin ISD substance use and safety survey. Reports are available for the district as well as for each middle and high school.

AISD Prekindergarten Expansion Grant Evaluation Report, 2008-2009 Promoting School Readiness
AISD provided full-day pre-K to 5,196 4-year-olds in 2008–09 at 66 schools. Seventy percent or more of students made measureable gains on a test of receptive vocabulary, and average gains showed growth about two times greater than that expected for 4-year-olds after a 7-month period.

Texas Accelerated Science Achievement Program: Summary Report, 2008-2009
This report summarizes 2008-2009 program evaluation results for a state grant to improve students’ grades in science courses, to increase students’ chances of graduating, and to increase 10th- and 11th-grade students’ scores on the state science test.

Office of Redesign: Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL), 2008-2009
Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL) aimed to improve teacher practice and improve student outcomes at Lanier and International High Schools. Overall, QTEL was moderately effective based on the myriad of mixed program results.

High School Level Performance Report Summary of Research
The AISD level reports highlight analyses results and strategies that address the interactions among factors influencing student performance. The 2008-2009 HS level report presents results critical to student achievement at the high school level.

Summer School Evaluation Summary Report 2009
AISD served more than 13,000 students in summer programs, providing opportunities for accelerated learning, maintenance of academic skills between school years, course credit recovery, state achievement tests, or school-level transition activities. Read the full report for more details.

Career and Technical Education Evaluation, 2008-2009
This report compares characteristics of students who had taken career and technical education (CTE) courses or a sequence of such courses, to those of students who had not. The role of CTE in postsecondary employment and enrollment is also examined.

Comparison of AISD Prekindergarten Programs, 2001-2002 (Half-Day and Full-Day Pre-K) and 2007-2008 (Full-Day Pre-K)
This report summarizes AISD prekindergarten student data from 2001-2002 (half-day program) and 2007-2008 (full-day program), including student demographics, academic performance, and attendance.
