Class of 2012 High School Exit Survey

The purpose of this survey is to monitor high school students’ perceptions of their high school experience. Results are used to improve the campus environment and program supports for students.

High Dosage Tutoring Program Summary, 2011–2012

AISD’s Office of Turnaround Schools implemented a high-dosage tutoring (HDT) program for selected grade levels and subject areas in the Travis and Eastside Memorial vertical teams. This report summarizes the first year of implementation.

ACCESS Early Childhood Questionnaire Results, 2011-2012

In November 2011, ACCESS staff distributed a questionnaire about early childhood education services participation to all Austin Independent School District’s parents/guardians of kindergarten and prekindergarten students through their classroom teacher. This report was funded through the ACCESS grant as an adhoc request and provides a district summary of the data.

Career and Technical Education: College Readiness and Cost-Effectiveness, 2011-2012

Compared to 2010–2011, the cost-effectiveness of the CTE program improved in 2011-2012. Also, CTE may be more successful than the regular curriculum at achieving the effect of college readiness among Hispanic and economically disadvantaged students.

Schoolyard Habitat Project Middle School Teachers’ Survey Year 2, 2011-2012

The National Wildlife Federation engaged in a two-year partnership with AISD to build and maintain outdoor learning habitats for elementary and middle school campuses. This report summarizes the findings from the year 2 program evaluation (academic year 2011-2012), focusing on teacher perceptions and curriculum considerations as well as the actual design and usage of the habitats for teaching science in the middle grades.

NCLB Title I, Part A Program Summary, 2011-2012

AISD used federal Title I A funds to serve more than 51,000 students during 2011-2012. AISD receives Title I funds based on the number of low-income students residing in the district attendance zones.

National Wildlife Federation Appreciative Inquiry Summit 2012

The National Wildlife Federation and AISD engaged in a project to build outdoor learning classrooms on middle school and elementary school campuses. Teachers participated in a half-day Appreciative Inquiry Summit during the second year of the partnership. This report describes teachers' reflections and aspirations for the Schoolyard Habitats they built on their campuses.

Final Report: National Wildlife Federation Schoolyard Habitat Project, 2010-2012

The National Wildlife Federation's SchoolYard Habitat (SYH) program was a partnership with AISD from 2010-2012. A total of 18 outdoor learning habitats were created on AISD elementary and middle school campuses, and a demonstration habitat was created at the AISD Science and Health Resource Center (SHRC). The purpose of the SYHs is to provide teachers with an outdoor classroom that allows students to learn science and mathematics skills in natural environments. This report reviews the purpose and goals of the SYH program.

Rising English Language Learners Population: Burmese Refugees, May 2011

AISD Burmese refugee student enrollment has increased since the 2006–2007 year, and the number is expected to rise as Austin resettlement agencies serve more families coming into the US. Learn more about how AISD can better serve this population.

English Language Learner Programs Annual Report, 2011-2012

This report provides a description of ELL enrollment in the district, examines ELL progress in English proficiency and academic content areas, and evaluates the dual language program in its first year of district wide implementation.
