High School Exit Survey (HSES), Executive Summary, Spring 2021

This report provides highlights from the 2021 High School Exit Survey and includes AISD seniors’ reports of college and career preparation activities, perceptions of school experiences, and aspirations for the future.

Gender-Diverse Students' Experiences in AISD

Gender-diverse secondary students (i.e., students in grades 6-11 who identify as transgender, nonbinary, or questioning) continue to report a more challenging school climate than their cisgender peers, according to results from the 2020-2021 AISD Student Climate Survey. This report highlights the largest differences in students' perceptions and includes qualitative responses from gender-diverse students about when they feel welcome or unwelcome at school. Recommendations for strengthening supports for gender-diverse students are discussed.

Student Climate Survey, Spring 2021

The AISD Student Climate Survey measures students' perceptions of school climate across a number of dimensions, including engagement, relationships, safety, personal development skills, and college intentions. Students in grades 3 through 11 are provided with the voluntary opportunity to take the survey every spring, with survey results used by district and campus leaders for planning, goal setting, and decision-making. Family Survey: Executive Summary, Spring 2021

This executive summary provides an overview of Family Survey results in Spring 2021. The survey results are used to monitor parents and guardians' attitudes of the campus where their child is enrolled. Teaching, Empowering, Leading, and Learning (TELL) AISD Survey: Executive Summary, Spring 2021

The purpose of the TELL AISD survey is to measure aspects of school climate such as general climate, district vision, leadership, teacher data use, instructional practice, professional development opportunities, and student conduct. The survey is administered annually to all campus–based staff employed half-time or more. This report contains highlights regarding the 2020-2021 AISD TELL Survey. AISD Calendar Survey Results

This interactive dashboard displays results of the AISD Calendar Surveys for school year calendars since 2019-2020. Families, students, AISD staff, and community members are all invited to place their votes on their preferred calendar of those developed by the AISD Calendar Task force. Family Learning Preference Survey Summary: December 2020

Families were asked which instructional model they planned for their student to participate in from the options remote off-campus learning and on-campus learning beginning January 4th, which instructional model they planned for their student to participate in if the Austin community moves into Stage 5 risk-based guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and their preference for how the district might adjust the 2020-2021 academic calendar if the district moves to 100% remote learning or closes schools following winter break in January 2021. Families responded on behalf of about 17,000 students.

Staff Instructional Days Survey Summary: December 2020

Staff were asked to provide their preference for how the district might adjust the 2020-2021 academic calendar if the district moves to 100% remote learning or closes schools following winter break in January 2021. Overall, 70% of staff ranked the option to move instructional days to the end of the school year as their most preferred option, 18% ranked the option of holding once-a-month instructional days on Saturdays throughout the spring semester as their most preferred choice, and just 12% ranked moving instructional days to spring break as their most preferred choice.

AISD Middle and High School Family Learning Preference Survey Results: October 2020

The AISD Family Learning Preference survey was sent to all families of students on middle and high school campuses. Families responded on behalf of over 21,000 students (N= 21,547) out of a possible 37,400 students for about a 58% response rate for the survey. Families were asked which instructional model they planned for their student to participate in from the options remote off-campus learning and on-campus learning beginning November 2nd. Overall, about 78% of responses for students on the survey indicated that families plan for their student to be engaged in remote off-campus learning.

Employee Well-Being in AISD: What Makes Employees Feel Valued and Want to Stay, 2019-2020

Part of Austin Independent School District (AISD)'s ongoing commitment to employees’ well-being and retention includes understanding employees’ feelings toward their work environment. AISD’s customer experience department, CARES (customer focused, action oriented, responsive, empathetic, and service driven), worked with AISD's Department of Research and Evaluation (DRE) to create items to be added to staff surveys to accomplish this.
