SHAC Annual Report
The Student Health Advisory Committee is a board-appointed advisory group made up of parents, community members, students and school staff working together on programs to improve the health of all students and families. Vivian Ballard and Ivan Veda, co-chairs of the SHAC, presented the committee’s annual report to the Board of Trustees.
Discussion of FY15 Budget Approach and Process, Initial Budget, and Budget Development Calendar (Budget 101)
The board began the process of developing and adopting a budget for FY 2015 by discussing the initial approach that will guide the budgeting process during the next nine months. The discussion, feedback and establishment of budget parameters lay a foundation for the entire budget process. At the board’s request, the administration provided basic information about the district’s budget and budgeting process in a presentation titled “Budget 101.” The board is scheduled to take action on the FY 2015 Budget Parameters at the Sept. 30 Regular Meeting.
Continuation of the Discussion of the Development of Facility Master Plan (FMP) Guiding Principles
The board continued its discussion of guiding principles for the development of the district’s Facility Master Plan by discussing its definition of equity and optimal utilization as they relate to facilities planning. The administration will bring back drafts of these two guiding principles for additional discussion and review at the Sept. 23 special work session.
Consideration of Proposed Scope of Work, Contract with the Consultant Retained by the City of Austin, and Interlocal Agreement with the City of Austin Regarding Conduct of a Disparity Study
The district has been researching the possibility of participating in a disparity study that will be managed by the City of Austin. Trustee Lori Moya provided an update to the trustees on the work of the board’s Ad Hoc HUB Committee related to a possible disparity study.
