AISD's Board of Trustees recognized and congratulated the Liberal Arts and Science Academy Quiz Bowl team for winning the 2013 National Academic Quiz Tournaments High School National Championship Tournament.
Development of Facility Master Plan Guiding Principles
The Trustees provided guidance to the administration through guiding principles to frame the Austin ISD Facility Master Plan (FMP).
At its Regular Board Meeting on April 1, the Board of Trustees made a commitment to the voters by adopting a Resolution Regarding the Use of Bond Proceeds, Providing for the Appointment of an Oversight Committee, and Addressing Matters Relating to Future Facility Master Planning. The resolution commits the district to the development of a facility master plan on or before June 30, 2014.
The board discussed boundary changes, maximizing utilization and transfer policies as possible considerations for the administration in drafting a Facility Master Plan, as well as creating a plan for determining when to replace its older buildings.
The board is scheduled to take action Aug. 12.
Board Member Handbook Related Items
Trustees discussed three proposed changes to the board member handbook:meeting schedule and structure; matrix of board committees, board presentationand district advisory bodies;and board member communications.
The board is scheduled to take action on the item at its June 17 regular meeting.
Nomination for TASB Board of Directors, Region 13, Position A
On May 23 the district received written notice from the Texas Association of School Boards that the current term of the AISD representative on the TASB Board of Directors from TASB Region 13, Position A, will expire this year at the close of the 2013 convention.
The board discussed nominating Robert Schneider to TASB.
The board is scheduled to take action on this item June 17.
