April 2, 2012 Board Work Session
Review Board Policy DGB (LOCAL), Section I and Section II, Consultation with Nonsupervisory Professional Employees and Consultation with Classified Employees
The Trustees discussed AISD’s policy and practices regarding the process for consulting with employees in such areas as compensation, working conditions and contracts.
The policy, which recognizes a Consultation Agent, was first suspended on Dec. 12, 2011, to provide the administration an opportunity to explore options to potentially expand employee input considered by the Consultation Agent when addressing key district issues. At its Feb. 20 Work Session, the Board considered four possible options for communicating with district employees. The Board subsequently voted to continue the suspension of the policy through May 1, 2012, to provide the opportunity for further review of possible options.
Chief Human Capital Officer Michael Houser presented a fifth option for the Board to review. Trustees are scheduled to take action on this policy at the April 23 Regular Board Meeting.
Facility Master Plan (FMP) Update
Chief Operations Officer Lawrence Fryer presented an update on the Administration’s Facility Master Plan. As part of the FMP Framework, the administration updates the Board regularly on the implementation and continued development of the district’s long-range Facility Master Plan.
