AISD Announces Schools Frozen to Transfers for 2017-18
Austin ISD has announced the names of 23 schools that will be frozen to transfers during the 2017-18 school year.
Each year, AISD determines which schools should be frozen to transfers because they have, or are expected to have, enrollments that exceed their capacities.
There will be 23 frozen schools for K-12 for school year 2016-17.
Schools frozen to transfers in 2017-18 are:
High Schools: Akins, Bowie, Lanier and McCallum
Middle Schools: Burnet, Lamar and Murchison
Elementary Schools: Baldwin, Baranoff, Blazier, Casis, Cowan, Doss, Graham, Gullett, Hill, Kiker, Maplewood, Menchaca, Perez, Ridgetop, Wooten and Zilker
Priority transfer requests-sibling, tracking and majority-to-minority transfers-will only be accepted at schools that have space, which does not include frozen schools.
Requests for transfers for the 2017-18 school year may be submitted in person, by mail, via fax and, new this year, via email to the Office of Student Services. In-district requests will be accepted Jan. 3-31, 2017. All requests submitted during that time will receive equal consideration.
The district will begin accepting requests for out-of-district transfers Feb. 1, 2017.
