Update on Budget Planning: Extending Our Timeline (En español)
Dear Austin ISD community,
Last night we held a board budget work session to discuss the fiscal challenges and work done to date to identify budget cuts.
While our goal was to provide further details this week, feedback from our community and the board highlighted areas where we must dig deeper. We are committed to exploring every possible option to limit the strain these necessary cuts will place on our campuses. This extra window ensures that our draft proposal is as thorough as possible and reflects a fiscally responsible path forward for our district.
Austin ISD Releases repurposing scores and next steps for surplus campus sites
Following our initial community conversations earlier this spring, Austin ISD is providing an update on the future of the campus sites scheduled to close at the end of the 2025–26 school year.
Senior Success Story: Beatrix Lozach (En español)
McCallum High School senior Beatrix Lozach is taking her talents, determination and passion for storytelling to Yale University.
Beatrix will attend Yale on a QuestBridge scholarship, a highly competitive national program that connects high-achieving students with some of the country’s top colleges and universities.
Why it matters: Beatrix’s story highlights the power of Austin ISD programs that help students find their voice, build confidence and imagine what’s possible after graduation.
Oak Springs ES/Blackshear ES CAT Meeting #18
Please join us for the first CAT meeting for the restart of the Oak Springs Elementary School modernization project.

The Austin ISD Board Budget Work Session will be held at the Austin ISD Board Auditorium at 4000 South Interstate 35 Frontage Road, Austin Texas 78704.
Repurposing Widén Ementary School
Widén ES Repurposing
As part of the Surplus Property Repurposing Process established by Austin ISD, staff have completed Step 1 (Data Collection) and Step 2 (Scoring and Evaluation) for the Widén Elementary School site.
Four potential reuse options were evaluated (tap/hover over each to learn what information is included in each category):
