Future in Sight: Eastside Memorial Standout Achieves AISD First
Lebon Hora, a graduating senior enrolled in the Health Science program at Eastside Memorial High School, recently became the first AISD student to pass the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam to become a medical assistant.
The exam requires students to answer questions about patient care, medical law and ethics, communications and phlebotomy.
Lebon is currently participating in clinical rotations at Seton Main Hospital. Ranked second in her class, she will be a student at the University of Texas and pursue a nursing degree beginning this fall.
Eastside Memorial High School is currently the only high school in AISD to offer CCMA within the Health Science tract. Students enrolled in the EMHS Health Science program may also earn certifications in Certified Medical Administrative Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, CPR, and Occupational Safety and Healthcare Administration.
