C-SPAN Visits Two AISD Schools During “Road to the White House” Tour

The political coverage of public affairs media giant, C-SPAN, recently reached two Austin ISD schools as part of the “Road to the White House” tour. C-SPAN’s Campaign 2012 Bus stopped by Fulmore Middle School and Travis High School and showcased to students the different ways C-SPAN is distributing its content to the public.

The bus travels the country to promote C-SPAN’s extensive resources and coverage, such as major political events, candidate debates, speeches in early primary states and meeting with voters on the campaign trail.

Additionally, it also tours state capitals, visits community events, and hosts students and teachers around the nation, giving them an inside look at C-SPAN’s comprehensive educational and political resources.

Students learned about the channel’s in-depth public affairs event coverage, their web offerings, and archived video dating back numerous decades, via HD TVs, touch screen computers, laptops, and mobile devices.

This event was a partnership with Time Warner Cable as C-SPAN promotes their annual video documentary competition for middle school and high school students, StudentCam. It’s through this competition that C-SPAN encourages students to bring the U.S. Constitution to life by competing in the video contest. This year’s StudentCam theme is: “The Constitution and You: Select any provision of the U.S. Constitution and create a video illustrating why it’s important to you.”
