General Information
Hours of Operation: Fall, winter and spring hours at Read are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Summer hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and occasionally Saturday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Catalog: The Professional Development Center e-Campus Catalog is located online at the website address, https://pdaecampus.austinisd.org. The searchable catalog lists fall professional development training in the Austin ISD District. New training is frequently added to the PDC e-Campus. Information about Course Content: Contact the facilitator listed for a specific training if you need additional information about a session. Confirmation of your Registration: After registering for your training, you will receive an instant screen message confirming your registration status, as well as an email to your Lotus Notes address and a phone message to your home phone number. Registration from a Waiting List: If you are on a Waiting List and you receive an email that a seat has become available, you need to confirm your registration within 24 hours of receiving the email message. If your browser is open, you may click the first link in the email message to confirm your registration; or access your Welcome/Class Portfolio screen and click the red Register () button that appears on the same line with your registration in order to confirm. Please view your Portfolio to check the status of the registration after you confirm. Your status will change to "Registered" unless you missed your 24-hour window of opportunity. If you need to Cancel: Access your Welcome/Class Portfolio screen to cancel a training. Your screen will display your Status as "Registered." To cancel your registration, click on the red cancel ( )button displayed next to your Status. A screen appears asking if you are sure you wish to cancel. The Cancel option disappears 48 hours before the start date of the class. If a Session is Canceled: Notification of a canceled training will be emailed to your Lotus Notes address and a phone message will be sent to your home phone number. Online Evaluation & Certificates: Once attendance has been taken for your training, a link, [Take Evaluation], will appear in the Certificate column on your Welcome/Class Portfolio screen. Click on the [Take Evaluation] link and complete the online evaluation for the class. When the online evaluation has been submitted, the link will change to [Certificate] and you may click it to download and print your certificate. Classified Employees: All training classes offered are free to instructional and classified staff. Staff who register for training on duty days must obtain their supervisor's approval. Gifted/Talented Credit: Session descriptions will state the appropriate credit offered for a class. Unless otherwise noted, classes do not offer Gifted/Talented credit. Continuing Professional Education Credit (CPE): CPE credit hours are listed for each class in the catalog. Teachers certified after September 1, 1999, must complete 150 hours during a five-year renewal period. Principals and Assistant Principals must complete 200 hours of training every five years. For more information, refer to the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) or contact Raquel Martinez, Certification Analyst for AISD, 414-2671. Fees: For non-exempt, non-AISD registrants, there is a fee to attend AISD PDC classes: 4 hours or less, $25.00/day, & over 4 hours, $50.00/day. Fees must be paid at the time of registration. Fees are payable by money order, cash or check. Carpooling and Parking: All participants are strongly encouraged to carpool. Parking space is limited at PDC. Parking is restricted to the PDC side of the campus, curbside along Keats Dr. except in the area marked "No Parking" between the PDC walkway and the driveway on Keats. Parking is also allowed along the short, paved drive accessed by entering the driveway (beware of mud on rainy days). Please avoid parking in front of neighborhood residences. Citations issued by the City of Austin in violation of the parking restrictions are $20 per offense. Questions and Suggestions: Please contact the Professional Development Academy at 414-3976. |
