Consequently, many urban school districts face the challenge of employing under-prepared principals or growing their own.

Entering the 21st Century - with a commitment to excellence in every school - the Austin Independent School District has joined with The University of Texas at Austin to establish a School Leadership Academy to address the supply need for superbly prepared leaders for all its schools.

Mission

The Mission of the School Leadership Academy is to provide leadership development programs - based upon cutting-edge knowledge and leadership/management skills - for selected AISD professional staff. The School Leadership Academy will prepare its participants to lead schools, ensuring that students are provided a rigorous academic curriculum, are engaged by teachers who employ best practices, and can use their minds to make choices leading to purposeful and productive lives in the 21st Century.
