Health is Academic!

The AISD Healthy Apples Staff Wellness Committee mission is to inform, increase awareness, and educate staff about health and wellness. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for improved health such as physical activity programs, nutrition programs and discounts to fitness facilities. The second goal is to encourage participation in physical activity for 30 minutes a day to improve your physical health, mental health, and increase awareness about healthy eating and food choice.

From the 2005 Coordinated Employee Survey, the top 5 areas that employees ranked as the most important areas of health and wellness are:

  1. Exercise and Fitness
  2. Stress Management
  3. Weight Management
  4. Nutrition
  5. Family/Community Health

We have provided employees with an opportunity to improve their health and fitness with organized programs throughout the year. Programs include the 10,000 Steps Challenge, Active For Life, Striders 10K training, 5-A-Day Challenge, Take the Stairs Campaign, and a monthly newsletter.
