The Department of Homeland Security in consultation with the Homeland Security Council, has made the decision to lower the national threat level from a High to an Elevated risk of terrorist attack or Level Yellow. District employees need to be aware of what to do and how to protect themselves and students in the event of an emergency. It is important for parents and the community to be aware of Austin ISD's plans as well. The district has set up this page on the Austin ISD website to provide information about district safety procedures. You will also find links to useful information from government Web sites such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Education, the State Office of Emergency Management, and the Austin/Travis County Office of Emergency Operations. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the district's emergency response procedures. As always, the safety of students and staff members is AISD's number-one priority. |
