Mission Statement

Oak Springs Elementary School will meet or exceed the criteria to become a recognized campus by 2002-2003. ______ Oak Springs is an East Austin school serving a majority of students from the Booker T. Washington Housing Complex. Our school's community is working together with the faculty, staff, and administrative team to ensure student success. Through these efforts last year, our students increased their gains on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills(TAAS) test. As a result, the faculty and staff would like to acknowledge the strong support of our parents and partners. Our parents and business community are regularly involved in school activities. They are recognized on a monthly basis for their participation in school activities. We have several adopters throughout the Austin Community that assist us by mentoring, tutoring, donating items, and participating in our Campus Advisory Council activities.

School Goals

Increase Student Achievement in Reading, Math, and Writing Utilize teaching strategies and research that access multiple intelligences and all modalities of student learning. Improve Citizenship and Social Skills Implement an effective schoolwide discipline plan. Implement an effective schoolwide citizenship plan for students. Increase Parental Involvement Communicate consistently and positively with parents. Involve parents regularly in school activities that increase student achievement. Implement and evaluate an incentive plan to reward parents and students for parental involvement in school activities. Develop, implement, and evaluate the After School Program. Increase Student Attendance Implement an effective plan to improve attendance.
