Mission Statement

The mission of Mathews Elementary School is to educate children with positive attitudes, academic foundations, and a life-long love of learning.

The uniqueness of Mathews Elementary School lies in its having the most diverse student body of any elementary school in A.I.S.D. Our school motto is \"We Educate the World\". It contains a broad social, economic,racial, linguistic, and cultural mixture. We have Bilingual and ESL programsin Spanish, Korean, and Chinese.

The special nature of the Mathews student body has attracted a highly committed group of teachers and staff, dedicated to the highest quality education for all students. Since being selected as a demonstration school by A.I.S.D. in 1990, parents and teachers have worked together to improve all aspects of education at Mathews. We have incorporated global studies,whole language, cross-grade learning, and technology into the curriculum and have altered several non-curricular aspects of the school day.

The principal, teachers, staff, students and parents are ready to meet this challenge and seize the opportunity. Working together, we can make Mathews a showplace of educational excellence for decades to come.
