Dr. Meria Carstarphen today pledged to work tirelessly as Austin School Superintendent, to realize high academic achievement for all Austin students.

Dr. Carstarphen took her first official campus tour as Austin Superintendent, visiting summer reading and math programs at J.J. Pickle Elementary School.  She also ate lunch with students in the cafeteria and met with school staff.  Then she visited with Austin-area news media.</description>

                	<description>Oh the thinks you can think! The Austin ISD Summer Musical Company makes you think and wonder and dream far and wide as you dare with its production of the family-friendly musical, Seussical, at Austin High School July 9-11 and July 16-18 at 7 p.m. Two Saturday matinees at 2:30 p.m. round out the eight performances of the all-city company made up of more than 25 students from Austin middle and high schools. </description>

                	<title>Superintendent Presents 2009-10 Preliminary Budget to Trustees</title>
                	<description>Superintendent Dr. Pat Forgione has presented the school district’s Preliminary 2009-10 Budget to the Board of Trustees. The $864.8 million budget will fund the opening of the new Gorzycki Middle School, two new schools at the Eastside Memorial High School campus, an increased enrollment of 0.7 percent, and the bolstering of programs at Pearce Middle School and Reagan High School. </description>

                	<title>Pearce Middle School Receives Grant for Educational Nutrition Project</title>
                	<description>Pearce Middle School has been chosen to receive a $50,000 grant to create a food garden and an accompanying math and science curriculum around nutrition that also includes a parental involvement component.  The Investment Capital Fund Grant was awarded by the Texas Education Agency. </description>
