UPDATE ON AUSTIN SCHOOL CLOSINGS

The Austin School District has now added five additional elementary campuses to the list of schools that will be closed today, because there is either insufficient or intermittent electrical power to each of the facilities, as a result of last night’s storms.

Anderson High School To Dedicate Plaque to Alumnus Killed in Iraq

Staff and students at Austin’s Anderson High School will dedicate a plaque on Friday, May 16, for one of their own — U.S. Army Capt. Michael Norman, a 1989 graduate who was killed in Iraq in January.

Martin Middle School 7th Grade Students to Participate in Great Graduation on Thursday, May 15
May 14, 2008
Approximately 130 Martin Middle School seventh grade students, who have been learning and practicing life skills to avoid gang involvement, are scheduled to graduate from the Austin School District’s Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) class on Thursday, May 15.

AISD to Hold Community Meeting To Discuss Boundary Process for New Southwest Middle School

The Austin School District will hold a community meeting to discuss the process for determining attendance boundaries for the new Southwest middle school on Thursday, May 22. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., at Bailey Middle School, 4020 Lost Oasis Hollow.
