September 14, 2009 - Screening for gifted and talented students in the Austin School District will begin this month. AISD’s Department of Advanced Academic Services will screen nominated students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Parents are invited to contact their child’s school for nomination information and specific timelines for G/T identification. Nominated students are screened at the school using a variety of measures, including academic and gifted characteristic checklists/scales, standardized tests of cognitive abilities, and portfolios of exemplary work. Bilingual students are administered the Bilingual Verbal Abilities Test, which replaces tests that are English-dependent.
