September 30, 2008 - The Austin School District’s Office of Redesign will host a Parent and Community meeting at Eastside Memorial High School to discuss the recommendation that two New Tech Highs be created on the campus.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 1, at 6 p.m., in the school cafeteria. Eastside is located at 1012 Arthur Stiles.  
 
District staff has recommended that both new schools at Eastside open as New Tech Highs, one, possibly, with a global “School of the Americas” thematic study, and the second with a science/math/engineering thematic focus.  
 
The proposed New Tech Highs would provide the college/career programs that parents and students have requested including dual credit courses, a strong technology focus, and hands-on instruction that is relevant to students’ lives. AISD incorporated into the recommendation the priorities set by parents, students, and community members at more than 21 meetings and events conducted over the past nine months.
