Austin Voters Give Overwhelming Approval to $343.7 Million in New School Bonds

Austin voters have given overwhelming approval to three separate Bond Propositions totaling $343.7 million that will allow the Austin School District to alleviate student overcrowding at certain campus, construct new high school science classrooms, expand its utilization of campus and central office technology, purchase energy-efficient buses, build a new Performing Arts Center, address other critical needs, and plan for the future.

Austin School District Trustees, staff, and friends from the community will gather to view returns of the School Bond and Trustee elections on Saturday evening, May 10, in the Board Auditorium of the Carruth Administration Center, located at 1111 W. Sixth Street.

Paredes and Partners Dedicate Outdoor Classroom Thursday

An outdoor classroom will be dedicated at Paredes Middle School at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the school, located at 10100 Mary Moore Seawright. The classroom is the culmination of a partnership between Lowe’s, the Paredes Parent Teacher Association, and Boy Scout Troop 403.

AISD Seventh Graders Honored in Duke University Talent Search

The Austin School District honored 105 seventh grade students recognized by Duke University in its 2008 National Talent Identification Program at a Recognition Reception on Monday, May 5.
