The Media Production/Cable TV Department is a branch of the Office of Planning and Community Relations, and is under the supervision of the Communications Services Department. Our department provides the television services for the benefit of Austin ISD teachers, students and staff, and the Austin ISD community.

The Austin Independent School District operates a non-profit educational cable access channel. Franchise agreements between the City of Austin and Time Warner Entertainment Company, L.P., and the city of Austin and Grande Communications Holdings, Inc. make the school districtÕs cable channel available to both Time Warner and Grande Communications cable television subscribers. AISD's Cable Channel 22 is managed by the office of Media Production/Cable TV.

AISD Cable Channel 22 has been in operation since September 1982. Television programs are available on this channel from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Many of the programs playing on AISD Cable Channel 22 are specifically produced to be instructional in nature; that is, these programs focus on presenting information on a topic that is generally taught in one of the academic fields - English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies.

What We Do:

• Cable Channel 22 - Manage the operations of AISD's educational cable access channel - Cable Channel 22 - available for public viewing on Austin Time Warner and Austin Grande Communications cable television systems. Cable Channel 22 offers AISD K-12 teachers with instructional television programs to support student-learning activities.
• Board of Trustees Meetings - Televise AISD Board of Trustees regular meetings, work sessions, Joint City of Austin/AISD Board of Trustees/Travis County Subcommittee meetings, and other Board of Trustees and AISD events.
• Satellite Services - Satellite downlink services of videoconferences and other satellite delivered programs are available with advanced notice. Please call our office at 414-1030 for more information.
• Chalkboard - Electronic text messages are displayed on AISD's Cable Channel 22 daily from 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Chalkboard messages include AISD news and information, scholarship offerings, AISD school events, and announcements from Austin non-profit community organizations.
• Local Programs Ð The Media Production/Cable TV Department produces an assortment of video programs, including public service announcements, AISD news and information videos, student showcase programs highlighting student performances and achievements, high school graduations, and the live broadcast of the Partners In Education Awards Banquet.
