Please read the following information before proceeding on to the online application.

Thank you for applying with Austin ISD. We want this to be a positive experience for you. Please take a few moments to review the instructions prior to completing your application. We have included some frequently asked questions that we hope will be helpful to you. If you need further assistance, you may request help via email at:

The online application may only be used for administrative and professional positions, including principal and assistant principal positions.

To apply for an administrative position, please complete each of the following steps:

1. Complete the online application for administrative positions (link below).

2. Register and create an account for yourself at https://gx.gallup.com/principalinsight.gx so that you can take the PrincipalInsight web-based assessment if you are applying for a Principal or Assistant Principal position.

Principal and Assistant Principal applications will not be complete without the results of the PrincipalInsight. Please reserve at least 45 minutes of uninterrupted time for this assessment. PrincipalInsight consists of three types of items: multiple choice, Likert scale (responses on a one-to-five scale), and open-ended in which you write your response. You may access PrincipalInsight by using the following link and District Code:

3. Send the following documents to the Executive Director, Professional Human Resources, 1111 W. 6th Street, Austin TX 78703 or fax to (512) 499-0270:

  • Resume
  • Letter of interest
  • Principal certificate

4. Download and print three copies of the reference assessment form and send to three individuals. Ask them to return the forms to Human Resources as soon as possible.

5. Check the Job Search on our website - it is updated daily. Once you see a vacancy that interests you, please send the Director of Recruiting and Staffing a copy your resume and a letter of interest.

Tips for Completing the Application Online

• The application is best viewed using Netscape 4.7 or higher (4.5 or higher will work, but not 6.0) or MS Explorer 4.0 or higher. You may want to reduce the size of your browser's font to allow more of the application to be visible on your screen. (In Explorer, you can do this by selecting View, then Text Size)

• It is anticipated that the application process will take approximately 45 - 60 minutes to complete.

• You will be asked for the following specific information to complete the application. Have available for reference:

  • Certification Type, Level, Description; month, day and year of issue and month, day and year of expiration, if applicable.
  • College/Universities and dates attended, graduated date, degree earned and major subject.
  • To/From dates of teaching, administrative and non-teaching experience, name of organization, name of supervisor and contact phone number.
  • Three professional references including name, title, organization, work phone, home phone & email address, if available.

• Once you have submitted your application, you will receive the message, "Your application has been successfully submitted to Austin ISD." If you have provided an email address, an email will be sent to that address confirming the receipt of your application.

If you have problems viewing or downloading the reference assessment forms, you may need to download and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader browser plugin software. You can download and install it free with detailed instructions on how to install from Adobe.com.
