Construction Management

The Construction Management Department is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of the District's buildings and grounds and the management of its real property. Maintenance activities, including buildings and grounds and non-student transportation vehicles (maintenance vehicles and equipment and drivers' education cars), and the placement and training of custodians is managed through the Lance Giles Service Center located on E. 51st Street.

The responsibilities of New Construction include:

  • Planning and managing activities related to Capital Improvements Bond Programs for major renovations to existing facilities and the construction of new facilities.
  • Locating sites for construction of new facilities.
  • Establishing and maintaining building system standards to help assure consistent and uniform construction and building equipment.

The responsibilities of the Office of Plant Improvements include:

  • Facilitating service requests, physical plant improvements, renovations and remodeling, including re-roofing and roof repairs, parking lot and site drainage improvements, replacement of floor finish materials, major renovations to air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems and the construction of partition walls and other interior improvements required to facilitate changes in educational programs.
  • Managing the relocation and construction of portable classroom buildings.
