2004 Bond Program Scope of Work

• Construct eight-classroom addition and two special education classrooms
• Expand library reading room
• Expand cafeteria and kitchen
• Repair parking lot paving and reseal pavement
• Replace deteriorated canopy lighting
• Improve storm/site drainage at building perimeter and in under-floor crawl space
• Repair/replace exterior doors, frames, and hardware
• Repair/replace approximately 10,500 feet of built-up roofing, and recondition approximately 13,800 square feet of modified bitumen roofing
• Replace ceilings in all student and faculty restrooms, and replace exhaust fans
• Replace clock system
• Install additional expansion joints in exterior masonry walls
• Repair/replace security gate at 200-classroom wing
• Replace deteriorated ventilation system controls and equipment
• Modify/replace ventilation system equipment at gymnasium
• Install additional electrical outlets in library
• Replace grease trap and sanitary sewer lines serving kitchen
• Construct story-telling structure in library
• Replace selected library casework/cabinetry/furnishings
• Construct interior and exterior PE equipment storage addition, and cover/seal exterior wall louvers in gym
• Install playslab cover
• Install safety and security enhancements
• Replace central heating, cooling and ventilation system chilling plant

2008 Bond Program Scope of Work

• Technology upgrades
• Replace heating, ventilation and air conditioning system chilling plant

Phases

Current Schedule Budget General Environmental
Improve storm/site drainage in selected areas. Complete. Under budget. Funded with 2002 Bond Program funds.* After field investigations, it was determined that proper drainage improvements should offset any ventilation requirements to control moisture in crawlspaces. Environmental considerations are limited to on-site drainage projects. Care will be taken to avoid excess soil erosion during construction.
Replace deteriorated canopy lighting, construct crawl space catch basin, site work, repair and renovations of internal classrooms, expanding library, cafeteria and kitchen, install safety and security enhancements, construct and eight-classroom addition and two special education classrooms and speech/testing rooms, upgrade parking. Complete. Over budget.* Classroom additions will meet Austin Energy two-star Green Building rating.
Playslab cover. Complete. Under budget.* Grouped with five other schools.
Replace roofing. Complete. Within budget.* New roof system will increase thermal efficiency and solar reflectivity.
Heating and air conditioning improvements. Complete. Within budget. Funded with 2002 Bond Program funds.* All new mechanical systems will meet and exceed the latest energy standards.

*Budget for the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs are reported as both individual project budgets and overall program budget. While specific projects may be over or under budget, the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs remain well within the total program budget.
