2004 Bond Program Scope of Work

• Replace deteriorated exterior doors, frames and hardware
• Repair/replace approximately 60,000 square feet of built-up roofing
• Replace inoperable windows in the 200, 300, and 400-classroom wings
• Install elevator in 600-wing
• Construct two-classroom science addition and renovate selected science classrooms
• Refurbish damaged/deteriorated classroom cabinets and casework
• Modify/repair corridor ceilings in selected areas
• Renovate/refurbish student toilets
• Replace deteriorated ventilation system controls and equipment
• Replace two ventilation system chillers
• Replace deteriorated restroom and dressing room exhaust fans
• Repair/replace mechanical room roof drain and cooling tower drain line
• Repair/replace/modify ventilation system equipment in selected locations
• Replace aging electrical switchgear
• Replace domestic water piping in boiler room
• Expand theater to 490-seat capacity
• Install safety and security enhancements
• Replace windows at 100- and 200-classroom wings and reglaze windows at two-story 600-classroom wing
• Replace bleachers

• Technology upgrades
• Replace windows at 100- and 200-classroom wings and reglaze windows in two-story 600-classroom wing
• Replace bleachers
• Renovate four-science classrooms
• Cafeteria and kitchen improvements

Phases

Current Schedule Budget General Environmental
Bid as single project September 2005. Science classrooms, fine arts addition including enlarging existing auditorium to seat 470 persons and providing stage and proscenium area, ventilation replacement and repair, reroofing 200-, 300- and 400-wings and miscellaneous areas, safety and security improvements, restroom improvements, accessibility improvements and ceilings. Complete. Over budget using program contingency funds.* Project will contain all applicable Green Building components, science addition goal to reach Austin Energy two-star Green Building rating for project components. City of Austin rebates will apply for project chillers.
Refurbish/replace ventilation system cooling tower, boilers and selected equipment. Complete. Over budget using program contingency funds.* Project designed with sustainability and environmental impact in mind. After completion, ensure all newly installed mechanical systems operate at peak efficiency.
Repair/reseal paving at student parking lot. Complete. Under budget.*
Exterior door replacement. Complete. Within budget.*
Safety and security: closed circuit TV. Complete. Within budget.*
Renovate four science classrooms; improve cafeteria/kitchen; replace windows in designated classroom wings. Design phase. Building systems designed to meet Green Building principles.

*Budget for the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs are reported as both individual project budgets and overall program budget. While specific projects may be over or under budget, the 2004 and 2008 Bond Programs remain well within the total program budget.
