The Superintendent proposed six, 2012-13 Annual Academic and Facilities Recommendations at the Dec. 5 Board Meeting. On Dec. 12, 2011, the Austin Independent School District’s Board of Trustees took action to address North Central Elementary School overcrowding beyond the district’s current efforts. Trustees voted to:
- Re-locate the remaining 6th grade programs at Barrington, Brown and Walnut Creek elementary schools to their designated middle schools, eliminating all 6th grade classes at those elementary schools.
- Create a pre-kindergarten center at Dobie Middle School. Pre-kindergarten students who would have attended Graham and Hart elementary schools will be assigned to Dobie Middle School.
- Create a pre-kindergarten through 8th grade model at Webb Middle School and reassign a portion of the Barrington Elementary School attendance area to Webb Middle School, retaining the same boundaries for the existing middle school students and growing the model with specific grade levels as appropriate.
- Reassign remaining pre-kindergarten students at Barrington to Reilly Elementary School.
