The Superintendent proposed six, 2012-13 Annual Academic and Facilities Recommendations at the Dec. 5 Board Meeting. At the Dec. 12 meeting, the Board voted to approve five AAFRs including designation of the 2008 Bond Program to relieve overcrowding in north central Austin. An explanation of that recommendation follows below:

Designation of 2008 Bond Program

  • The recommendation to address overcrowding in north central elementary schools in the 2012-13 school year would alleviate overcrowding by an estimated 812 seats.

  • For longer term relief, designate the 2008 Bond Program elementary school with a capacity of 669 students, either through the construction of a new school or the purchase and adaptive reuse of an existing facility.

More information about this AAFR will be posted as it becomes available. Please continue to check back for updates.

Implementation:

After receiving Board approval in December, the district administration will begin planning and implementation for the coming school year. The implementation process will include outreach to affected schools and communities as well as planning, preparation and action phases over the coming year. Please continue to check back for updates.
