On December 19, 2011, the Board voted to approve the Annual Academic and Facilities Recommendation proposing an in-district charter partnership with IDEA Public Schools. The new program is a partnership between the Austin school district and IDEA Public Schools to offer a college preparatory curriculum that prepares students for success in college and citizenship by developing academic, social and leadership skills needed to succeed in a four-year college. It is still an AISD school.

Starting next school year, families who live in the Martin Middle School attendance zone, including Allan Elementary School, will have a new school option at the Allan campus. In the 2012-13 school year, the new program at Allan will offer pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and grades 1, 2 and 6. Over the next few years, the program will expand to serve students in grades pre-K through 12 at the current Allan Elementary Campus and at Eastside Memorial High School at the Johnston Campus. Students who graduate from the program will receive a diploma from AISD.

The district is dedicated to providing families with timely and relevant updates about the IDEA roll-out. As more information becomes available, parents will be notified and this site updated. Please continue to check back.

How will this affect students who attend Eastside Memorial High School at the Johnston Campus next year?

Students who attend Eastside Memorial High School at the Johnston Campus will continue under the current programming for the next three school years.
