Austin Partners In Education

Mission Statement

Austin Partners in Education creates and fosters effective community and school partnerships that provide all AISD students preparation for college and career. APIE's current focus is implementing and expanding small group tutoring, mentoring, technology, and college readiness programs that utilize the talents of corporate and community volunteers in an effort to significantly improve the academic success of AISD students from under-resourced communities.

About Us

Austin Partners in Education (APIE) was created as an independent 501(c) (3) organization in 2005 through a partnership between Austin ISD and the Austin Chamber of Commerce. By leveraging community resources, APIE provides innovative, scalable, and results- driven programs to schools across Austin.

Through the flagship Classroom CoachingTM programs, volunteers encourage student engagement and support teachers on key academic objectives during the school day. These programs focus on Title I schools and students from under-resourced communities. As support for these programs increases, we are able to serve additional schools and communities.

We act as a point of contact for donors and volunteers, giving them immediate visibility to the strongest opportunities and best programs in education. We are located at 1601 Rio Grande, Suite 300, Austin, TX, 78701.

Volunteers are the heart of what we do at Partners in Education. You, your employees, co-workers, friends, roommates, neighbors, any group of volunteers can be a part of a child's life in so many meaningful ways. During the 2007-2008 school year, 2,713 students were served through APIE academic study group programs, and an additional 1,600 students received mentoring from either APIE volunteers or collaborations with other mentoring programs.

Change the Game. Become a Classroom Coach!

UT Coach Mack Brown, leads the Austin Partners in Education Classroom Coaching team as Head Coach. Two years ago, the City of Austin catapulted hundreds of students to academic success by committing 300 volunteers in APIE's proven model for effective volunteer engagement. Under Coach Brown's leadership, state, corporate, and community agencies will join the City of Austin proven to bring 800 Classroom Coaches into over 100 classrooms this fall. The Classroom Coaching campaign launched mid-August, 2009. Just under a thousand Classroom Coaches will spend an hour a week in classrooms across the city, changing the game for Austin Public School students.
