Background
Building upon years of effort to maximize and leverage available support resources, a team came together in June 2007 and responded to the Safe Schools Healthy Students' request for proposal. With staff from Seton Children's Optimal Health, The Austin Project, and Austin Independent School District, the team conducted a comprehensive needs assessment and developed an initiative that included an array of supports and an unprecedented data sharing, geographic information system program. ACCESS was one of twenty-six out of three hundred and forty-six applicants to be awarded the grant in 2007. The approved budget includes approximately $8,600,000 of funds for a four-year period ending August 31, 2011. |
