 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5 —

Based on information from the National Weather Service (NWS), the Austin area may experience some rain and potential freezing temperatures Thursday and Friday of this week.

Austin ISD is closely monitoring the weather and will remain in constant communication with other local government agencies and partners to coordinate information.

At this time, all AISD schools and offices are operating on a normal schedule.

When would the district make decisions on late start, early release or school cancelations?

The district will make every effort to make decisions on late start, early release or school cancelations as early as possible to allow employees, parents and caregivers enough time to make appropriate plans.

If AISD has compelling information the day before the anticipated inclement weather, the district will make a decision before 9 p.m., if at all possible.

If AISD does not have such information by 9 p.m. the day before, the next update and decision point will be the next day by approximately 6 a.m.

How will the district communicate any changes to schedules or operations?

If the weather appears to impact regular district operations and schedules, AISD will send direct messages to employees, parents and caregivers via the district’s phone, text and email notification system as soon as the decision is made.

The district will also update the news media and provide official information through the AISD website and social media channels: Austin ISD on Twitter and Facebook.

AISD will NOT send notifications if the weather does not impact our schools. Updates will be posted online and on social media.

How can I update my contact information for phone, text and email notifications?
