The Strategic Compensation Steering Committee (SCSC) is established by the Superintendent of the Austin Independent School District (AISD) to provide advice and counsel to the administration in the development and implementation of AISD REACH, the district's strategic compensation initiative to support and reward teachers based on classroom success, and to advance the district's efforts to recruit and retain the very best teachers and principals for Austin's schools. Specifically, the SCSC shall assist the district in ensuring alignment with the strategic plan and human capital strategy: that a quality teacher is in every classroom, especially in the highest-needs schools; improved student learning at all schools and for all students; professional growth for teachers; and increased retention rates among AISD teachers and principals.
The membership of the SCSC shall be determined by district administration, and shall include a balanced representation of interests, including but not limited to:
- Related AISD offices and programs
- AISD teachers and principals
- Parents
- District Advisory Council (DAC)
- Education Austin
- Austin Association of Professional School Administrators (AAPSA)
- Austin Council of PTAs (ACPTA)
- Austin Voices for Education and Youth
- Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce
In addition, the Board of Trustees may appoint one or more liaisons to the SCSC in an ex officio capacity.
The Office of Educator Quality shall provide coordination of the SCSC, and the Executive Director of Educator Quality shall serve as facilitator of SCSC meetings.
Members of the SCSC shall provide advice and counsel to the district through collaboration and consensus.
