Under No Child Left Behind, six campuses in AISD must offer free tutoring to students who receive free/reduced lunch priced meals. These campuses are Dobie, Mendez, Lanier, Johnston, Reagan and Travis. This tutoring must be held outside the school day. The services must be of high quality, research-based, and designed to increase the academic achievement on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) and to assist students in meeting the state's academic achievement standards.

As a parent you may choose the tutoring provider from the attached list of state approved providers, including AISD. The tutoring will be of no cost to you if your child continues to be eligible for free and/or reduced lunch for 2007-08. You will also collaborate with the district and provider to set goals for your child, to determine how and when progress will be measured, to determine how the information will be communicated to you and teachers, and to set a timetable for improving achievement.

Since providers will not have your names, you will need to use the contact information on the attached list to learn more information about the providers. You will have an opportunity to visit with the providers by attending one of the provider Fairs - either 9/6/2008 or 1/17/2009 at the Reagan High School from 9:00AM to 12:00 noon both dates. If providers send us additional information about their program, we will send it to you. If you would like your child to participate in the free tutoring, please review the provider list, select a provider, and complete the enclosed Application for NCLB Supplemental Education Services. The completed form should be returned to the principal's office at your campus. Once received the district will arrange for services and contact you with further information.
